Mr. S.K. Mitra is a Promoter and Whole-time Director of the Company. He started his professional career in commercial banking since 1974 spanning over 40 years, of which he spent the first 20 years with the State Bank of India holding wide-ranging roles. Subsequently, he joined UTI Bank (Axis Bank) and served in various roles.
Post retirement from Axis Bank, Mr Mitra joined Bandhan Bank as Business Head to assist in the transformation of the NBFC to a Scheduled Universal Bank in August,2015.
Mr. Mitra is an alumnus of Delhi University from where he graduated with Physics Honours in 1973 and subsequently did CAIIB from Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai and also a PDGBM.
Mr. Alok Biswas is a leader with strategic vision and experience of over 30 years in business. He started his career in 1989 with Canara Bank Subsequently joined Indian Bank as Probationary Officer in June 1993 and worked there till 2001 to join UTI Bank/Axis Bank.
In the year 2010 he moved into the microfinance sector and set up Jagaran Microfin Private Limited. He steered the growth of the company for five years and thereafter quit in order to promote Janakalyan Financial Service Private Ltd.
He is a Commerce Honours graduate, holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and has qualified in the Associate examination of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). In addition, he has completed Diploma in Microfinance from IIBF, Mumbai.
Mr. Prasenjit Chowdhury currently serves as Deputy General Manager at SIDBI, Kolkata Regional Office. With over 28 years of experience in Development Banking, he has held diverse roles across SIDBI’s branches and Head Office verticals nationwide, primarily overseeing MSME financing and credit operations. His leadership across multiple SIDBI branches has contributed significantly to institutional outreach and credit delivery.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Hons.) from Jadavpur University, and has earned the CAIIB certification as well as a Certificate Course on MSME from the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF).
In recognition of his expertise and institutional contribution, Mr. Chowdhury has been nominated by SIDBI to serve as a Non-Executive Nominee Director on the Board of Janakalyan Financial Services Private Limited.
Joseph Lawrence Tobias is a seasoned banking professional with over 36 years of experience across commercial banking, financial inclusion, MSME financing, treasury, foreign exchange and strategic business management. He served as Chairman of Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank from 2020 to 2024, where he successfully led the Bank's financial turnaround by improving profitability, strengthening capital adequacy, reducing NPAs and driving digital transformation initiatives. Prior to this, he held several leadership positions with United Bank of India and Punjab National Bank, including General Manager overseeing MSME and Financial Inclusion, Regional Head and Head of Overseas Branches. He holds an Executive MBA in Marketing, a Master's degree in Commerce (Banking & Insurance), is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and has completed executive programmes at premier institutions including IIM Rohtak and IIM Kolkata.
Dr. Swapan Kumar Sinha has over 35 years of experience in banking, rural development, microfinance, research and social development. He served as Senior Manager at NABARD, West Bengal Regional Office, after an earlier stint with the Reserve Bank of India. Throughout his career, he has been actively associated with initiatives relating to microcredit, financial inclusion, women empowerment, poverty alleviation and community development. He has also contributed extensively to academia as a faculty member at reputed institutions, imparting training in rural management, cooperative development and microfinance. Dr. Sinha holds a Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta and has authored several publications on child labour, women empowerment, microfinance and rural development. His rich experience in developmental finance, governance and social sector initiatives brings valuable insights to the Board.
