Laxmi Biswas
Laxmi Biswas, a middle aged home maker lived with her husband in a small village Ghola with three kids and ailing mother- in-law was passing through dire poverty. She narrated her story of bad days, "I run pillar to post to arrange some cash for starting fish selling. Meanwhile Mithu Majumdar, my neighbour approached to become a member of Radharani group of 12 members to get loan". She took loan of Rs. 30000 from Janakalyan Matikumra branch.
She told, "I purchase a Moped for door to door selling fish but I have decided to sell fish by the side of the Ranaghat-Anishmali road but now I am earning Rs.200 to Rs.300 daily by selling fish". Janakalyan helped to convert her long cherished dream to be economically self reliant into reality. Her three children are now going to local school and she appointed a home teacher for their children.
"In fact Janakalyan had come to my life as a boon in disguise", she recalled. Now she also gets occasional help from her husband.
